Andrea Scilletta
IP Attorney

Andrea is co-founder of the firm and deals with patents, trade marks and designs.
He is a European Patent Attorney and an Italian IP Attorney admitted before the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) and he holds the European Patent Litigation Certificate.
He is a member of the Council of the Italian Industrial Property Consultants Institute.
Andrea is currently a National Advisory Expert for the National Advisory Expert for Overseas IP Dispute Settlement of the China IP Society.
Also, he is a Technically Qualified Judge of the Unified Patent Court.

 

Andrea holds a five-year degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”.
His academic background includes electronics, with specialisation in components, circuits and electronic technologies (hardware), software, telecommunication and remote sensing, as well as mechanics and chemistry.
He then worked for a large software house first as a designer of software applications and then as an engineer expert in IT.
In October 1996, Andrea joined one of the largest Italian Intellectual Property firms, and he completed several patent law internships in the U.S. and U.K.
In April 2012, Andrea established IP Sextant.

Andrea has a particular expertise in building and managing IP portfolios, including copyrights and trade secrets, valuing IP assets, advising on contentious situations and IP negotiations, and dealing with IP litigations in Europe and Italy. He often acts as Court appointed expert in IP, mostly patent, litigations in Italy, and he regularly acts as party expert as well.

 

He is a tutor for the National Basic Course in Rome of the Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies (Centre d’études internationals de la propriété intellectuelle - CEIPI) since 2006, a tutor for the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi) since 2010, and cooperates as speaker and moderator with the Patent Academy of the European Patent Office at seminars held in Europe.

Andrea is co-author of books on IP topics and a regular lecturer on a wide variety of IP topics at IP seminars and meetings, law firms and companies in Italy and abroad, as well as at several universities, research organizations and even at schools, as well as at many Italian Chambers of Commerce and Italian associations of manufacturing and service companies.
